Shorthorns Fall to Rogers 63-56 in Battle of Contrasts

In a game of contrasting offensive styles, Rogers edged Schulenburg Friday 63-56.

Each team had more than 500 yards of offense, but in very different ways.

Rogers ran the ball 60 times for 457 yards in this game.

Meanwhile, Schulenburg quarterback Aaron Janecek threw for 394 yards and six touchdowns. His favorite target was Byron Johnson who caught 12 passes for 232 yards and three of those touchdowns. Jayse Janda caught five passes for 114 yards and three touchdowns.

Janecek and Da’Terrion Houston both ran for touchdowns as well.

But the Rogers offense was just too explosive. Blayton Watkins ran for four touchdowns.

Rogers improved to 1-1 with the victory while Schulenburg fell to 1-1. The Shorthorns host Burton this Friday (in a game the was originally scheduled to be on the road but was moved to Schulenburg because of stadium work on Burton).

Burton is 1-1. They lost to Holland in the season opener but beat Hearne last week 6-0.
