The Schulenburg Shorthorns leap-frogged Bloomington in the district standings Friday with their 42-12 victory over the Bobcats.
The Shorthorns are now 5-3 overall and 2-2 in district and in fourth place in District 15-2A. Schulenburg has two games remaining in the regular season in which they will be big favorites (at home against Danbury this week and then at Flatonia in the regular season finale) so its likely the Horns can grab the No. 3 spot in district eventually.
Friday Schulenburg took control of this game early, building a 35-0 halftime lead. Da’Terrion Houston scored touchdowns on his only two carries of the night, runs of 76 and 38 yards. Tavondrick Ellison, Aaron Janecek and Mason Kunschick also ran for touchdowns for Schulenburg Friday, and Janecek also threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jayse Janda.
