Shaw Makes History for Fayetteville Golf

Eva Shaw, a sophomore at Fayetteville ISD, competed in the State 1A Golf Tournament in Leander at Crystal Fall Golf Club May 6 and 7. She is the first girl to ever go to state in golf for Fayetteville.

“The course I played was gorgeous, but very challenging. I am grateful for the challenge, as it forced me to play hard and focus on my strengths and weaknesses,” Shaw said. “Becoming the first female at Fayetteville to go to state in golf is a tremendous honor. It’s not just about making it to state, but also setting goals for myself and accomplishing them.”

Competing against 69 other girls, Shaw placed 35th. She shot a 119 on the first day and a 109 on the second day for combined 228.

“Eva did great, she hit the ball very well, and played with great character” said Fayetteville golf coach Jake Diggs. “We just have to clean up some things around the green. I’m looking forward to what another year brings from her.”

Places 12th

Round Top-Carmine’s Angie LeBouef placed 12th at the 1A state golf tournament. She shot a first day 100, followed by a 93 on Day Two for a combined 193.
