Flatonia basketball player Kalen Scott has been one of the bright spots for a Lady Bulldogs team that has been winning a bunch to start the season. So much so that she was the leading scorer in two of the four games at the Fayetteville tournament and notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Fayetteville. “Coming in new, I got to see her as she is right now,” said first-year Flatonia head girl’s basketball coach Bethany McLeod. “Just watching her grow even from first day of practice, she’s gotten so much better. A big thing in practice we’re focusing on is consistency on shots and making sure our shot is the same each time. She’s been growing really well. She’s really aggressive on defense and we love it.” Scott’s drastic improvement, which has even led to a lot of scoring, has made her our selection for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.
