Schulenburg senior Byron Johnson brings a whole lot to the field for the Shorthorns this year. He’s a playmaker at both wide receiver and defensive back.

“If we don’t have Byron, we don’t have the ability to stretch the field, get on the safeties’ toes, and expand our offense,” said Schulenburg head football coach Luke Hobbs.

“He’s our deep threat, he’s fast, and he has really reliable hands,” Hobbs said. “On the defensive side, we put him on everybody’s best wide receiver. We trust him. He can stick with people. And on special teams, he returns for us. So he has very sure hands. He’s everything you want in a wide receiver and a corner.”

Johnson’s versatility earns him the title of Fayette County Athlete of the Week.
