Schulenburg Cross Country Update

The Schulenburg Shorthorns competed at the Shiner CC meet on Saturday placing 3rd overall in the 1A-2A division. Alton Herzik finished 2nd overall with a time of 19:00. Also medaling was Cody Lewis at 15th with a time of 21:57.

Also placing for the Horns were Bryan Netro 21st, Jamison Bennett 41st, Vontrell H. Walton, 56th and Edgar Mandujano 57th. The Horns compete at the district meet on Monday Oct. 7 in Shiner.

The Schulenburg Lady Horns cross country team ran their last pre-district race at Shiner on Saturday and came away with 2nd place in the talented field with 43 pts. Ruby Rodriguez led the way with a 3rd place finish, covering the two-mile, multi-hill course in a time of 13:03. Yasmin Cortez recorded a 6th place finish at 13:59. Michaela Kollmann nabbed 8th place at 14:09. Silvia Cortez registered an 18th place finish at 14:43 and Ana Maria Granadas finished the point totals at 24th place with a 14:56 time. Jailyn Guerrero was 32nd at 15:15 and Emily Cortez was 46th at 16:22.
