RT-C Starts the Season With a Bang

Last season the Round Top-Carmine volleyball team was one win away from making the state tournament.

This season, the Cubettes are showing they will again be a force on the court.

RT-C opened the season Tuesday with a four-set victory over Anderson-Shiro 2517, 19-25, 28-26, 26-24.

In that match two Cubettes recorded a triple-double. Madison Markwardt, who was a freshman playing her first varsity match had 16 kills, 19 digs, and 17 assists. Jill Eilers who is one of the team’s two seniors had 10 kills, 14 digs, and 25 assists.

Then the Cubettes went to the Columbus Tournament, and, against much tougher competition, went 3-5, beating La Grange twice and Boling once.

In the win against Boling, Jill Eilers had another triple double with 14 kills, 15 digs, and 13 assists.
