Prime 14U Conclude Youth Baseball Adventure at Gulf Coast World Series
“Love is the most important thing in the world, but baseball is pretty good, too.” (Yogi Berra)
There is a whole lot of love in the USA Prime Centex/ Storm 14U family. Many of the players have played together since they were 8 years old. Six towns were represented as twelve families journeyed to Gulf Shores, Alabama to play in the Perfect Game Gulf Coast World Series June 18-21. The boys rallied hard, facing twelve teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia and Texas playing on fields in Foley, Alabama, and Pensacola, Florida. Coached by Jared Curnel, the 14U team made their families proud and ended the tournament in 4th place. Coach Curnel summed it up sharing, “It was a team effort all week with Prime being short handed (due to an ill player). We had guys stepping up and performing in spots they weren’t used to being in. Playing eight games with 11 players and dealing with pitch count restrictions, the guys battled all week and should be proud of their effort.”
At the conclusion of the final game, the umpires commented that the team had “some very respectful boys.” That says a lot about the families and the culture of USA Prime Centex/Storm. Amazing memories were made! These fine young athletes will now attend different high schools and face each other from opposite dugouts, but they will forever be connected by their love of the game, perseverance and teamwork.
