New La Grange Optimist Club Summer Track Program Explodes in Popularity & Success

This year the La Grange Optimist Club added a summer track program to its already robust offerings of sports (volleyball, basketball, soccer, flag football) which the local civic organization offers.

And it took no time at all for the track program to take off.

More than 100 local kids participated in a series of track meets held in June, competing against other area track teams.

Last Friday 52 La Grange Optimist athletes traveled to Marble Falls for the TAAF Regional Meet, and 42 of those athletes earned berths at the state meet later this summer in Brownsville.

Misty Touchet started the program and has been assisted by coaches Deon McKenzie, Brooke McIntyre, Debra Loving, Katie Christen, Shauntae Loving, and Courtney Bishop Here’s a look at the kids from La Grange Optimist who competed Friday and the events they competed in:
