Magliolo Wins Third State High Jump Medal

Meredith Magliolo now has a state high jump medal of every color. As a sophomore she won silver, last year she won gold and Friday she tied for third to grab bronze, clearing five-foot, four-inches.

Magliolo said she placed a lot of pressure on herself to try to repeat as state champ after clearing five-foot-five inches last year, but misty conditions Friday made the competition tough for all involved.

“The rain wasn’t ideal, but we have to do what we have to do. In the end I could make excuses, but I got another medal and I’m happy about that,” said Magliolo, who is heading to Texas A&M next year as a student, but said her track career is over. “Not only did I want to win again, but I wanted to break the school record. It was my last track meet. I had really high expectations to not only win but perform well. While not meeting those, I had a really, really great career.”
