LG’s Trey Supak Pitching Well for Cubs Triple-A Squad
Ten years after he was drafted out of high school by the Pittsburgh Pirates, La Grange native Trey Supak could be nearing a return to the major leagues - with the Chicago Cubs.
Back in May, Supak was signed by the Cubs to a minor league contract. He was assigned to the Cubs’ Double-A team, the Tennessee Smokies and pitched well, going 3-1 with a 3.43 ERA with 17 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched over five games.
That earned him a promotion to the Cubs’ Triple-A team, the Iowa Cubs where he has pitched three games and is 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA with 10 strikeouts in 17 innings pitched.
Monday he started and went six innings against Omaha, allowing just two hits and one run. Back in 2020, Supak was called up to the majors briefly by the Milwaukee Brewers, but did not appear in a major league game before becoming a free agent later that year.
