LG Boys Grab First Win of 2023 as Hoops Season Heats Up
The La Grange boys basketball team snagged their first win of the season Tuesday at Round Top-Carmine, winning 77-17.
Jahse Scott led the Leps in scoring with 14. Conner Brooks had 13 and Nate Scott had 10.
In Friday’s loss at Fayetteville, the La Grange boys were led in scoring by Nate Scott, who had 20. Reece Nygren had 10, Devonte McKenzie scored eight, Conner Brooks and Oliver Gunn each scored six, Clayton Cooper scored two and Cordale Knapik scored one.
The Leps play at Brenham Saturday and then play their home opener Monday at 12:30 p.m. against Schulenburg.

After last year’s run to the regional finals, the Fayetteville boys look primed for another big basketball season based on their 73-53 win over La Grange in their season opener Saturday.
The Lions got big games from Easton Jaeger (15 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists), Mason Fenhaus (15 points, 3 assists), Keagan Supak (12 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists) and Lawson Fritsch (8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists).
Lady Leps Fall at Shiner
The La Grange girls basketball team lost at Shiner Tuesday 52-47. Landri Hernandez led the Lady Leps in scoring with 16 points and freshman Campbell Cooper had eight.
The Lady Leps are 1-1.
La Grange had been schedule to play Weimar Friday but that game has been cancelled and the Lady Leps will instead host Flatonia Friday at 5 p.m., varsity only.

Schulenburg
The Schulenburg girls basketball team lost to Giddings Tuesday 47-21. Arianna Vincent scored a team-high eight points for the Lady Horns. Fay Kutac had six points. Kaylee Beyer had three and Haylee Norman and Chayse Deagan each scored two.
The Lady Horns are now 0-2 this season.
Flatonia Loses to Yoakum
Tuesday the Flatonia girls basketball team lost to Yoakum 51-45.
Points: Summer Sodek with 22, Kalen Scott with 8, Katelin Sullivan with 6, Elzah Herrera with 3, Danielle Vinklarek with 3, and Jalee Trussell with 3.
Flatonia shot 45% from the field, 18% from the arc and 62% from the Free-throw line. The Lady Bulldogs play Friday at La Grange at 5 p.m.
