The La Grange boys basketball team heads into the holiday break with plenty to be thankful for.

The Leps improved to 2-1 with a 57-47 victory over Taylor at home Tuesday afternoon as the team continues to look more and more in basketball shape just a week after half their players finished up football season.

“We probably played about six minutes of higher brand basketball there in the fourth quarter,” said La Grange head coach Trent Collier. “That’s the first time this year that’s showed up. It’s progress.”

La Grange looked in control of the game the first half and built a 12-point halftime lead, but Taylor trimmed that to just six points going into the fourth quarter.

Cordale Knapik sparked that fourth quarter surge for the Leps to regain control. Knapik finished with 10 points. Conner Brooks led the Leps in scoring for the third time this season. He had 13 points. Oliver Gunn scored 12.

La Grange returns to action Tuesday at Hallettsville.
