Lady Leps Host Home Softball Tourney As They Try to Build Some Momentum
The La Grange softball team has started the season with a 1-10 record, but at their home tournament last week there were certainly signs that things could be changing for the better. Though La Grange went winless in their four games, two of the losses were by one run and the other two were by two runs.
“Big ships take a little time to turn around. We’re about to make that turn, but everyone wants to see it turn faster,” said first-year La Grange head coach Robert Young, a veteran coach who was most recently at Kyle Lehmann and previously at Marion and Gonzales. “We’ll eliminate those errors, make plays we’re supposed to, and we’ll be fine.”
Teagan Branch hit a homer for the Lady Leps Friday against Needville and Kylin Brawley hit one against East Bernard. “I just went up there and tried to have a good mindset,” Branch said of the homer. “The new coaching staff, they have been really great. As we go on, we’ll be better together, and we’re getting closer to where we want to be.”
La Grange plays at Smithson Valley Tuesday.
