Lady Horns Bringing out the Star Power for Must-Win Game Friday
The Schulenburg Lady Horns basketball team will be hosting two very special guests on “Double J” Night while the Lady Horns will be playing a key Dist. 28-2A game with Ganado, in a game where a playoff berth will be on the line.
University of Texas legendary Women’s basketball Coach Jody Conradt and Victoria Stingarees/Schulenburg Lady Horns coach Jan Lahodny will be the honored guests as the Lady Horns want to show appreciation to this dynamic duo for all that they have done to grow the game for young ladies across the state of Texas, the country and the world.
“Both of these coaching veterans are difference makers in the game, always have been and always will be. What we do in this lifetime, will echo into eternity and Coach Conradt’s and Coach Lahodny’s echo is loud and clear and will be for centuries to come,” said Schulenburg head girls basketball coach Larry Tidwell. “We want to thank them for their genuine impact on the game to all players and coaches.”
Both will be honored in pre-game ceremonies that will begin at 6 p.m.
Conradt led the 1986 University of Texas Lady Longhorns to the NCAA D-1 national championship with a perfect 34-0 record. She also Texas to many southwest conference championships and NCAA tournament appearances while posting 900 wins with a graduation rate at Texas of 90%.
Conradt is a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame as well as the Naismith hall of fame.
Lahodny is credited with 700+ wins as a head coach, 10 State UIL tournament appearances, three state UIL Championships, is a TABC hall of fame inductee, 1995 National High School Coach of the Year and most recently had the Victoria High School basketball court named in her honor.
“Having these two awesome coaches in the Shorthorn gym is phenomenal”, added Tidwell, “And once again, both of them prove their genuine love of the game as they are helping grow interest in the game for the Schulenburg Lady Horns.”
