Of Note: Don’t let that record fool you, Waco La Vega is very deserving of their No. 10 state ranking. Their 3 losses have all come against teams ranked in the Top 10 (Celina, West Orange-Stark and Stephenville). La Vega has a 5 gamewin streak as they surged to the District 12-4A title. The Pirates dropped down to 4A Division II this year after they went 7-5 last year in Division I (4A Big School) and they returned 9 offensive and 7 defensive starters this year. La Vega has a very balanced offense, averaging, 183 yards passing and 163 yards rushing per game. Soph. Kourtney Parr has won the QB job for the Pirates and has thrown for 1,317 yards this season. Sr. Bryson Roland has rushed for 1,041 yards this season ... LG Sr. QB Clayton Cooper has thrown for 1,878 yards this season with 14 TDs and rushed for 1,078 yards and 22 TDs. Jr. running back Da’von Giscome has run for 1,041 yards and 14 TDs this season. Max Dixon leads the Leps in tackles with 80 and interceptions with four. Oliver Gunn and Devonte McKenzie lead the Leps in tackles-for-loss with 11 each ... The Leps are trying to win their first playoff game since 2021.
