La Grange vs. Taylor

Of Note: Taylor is still looking for its first win of the season. The Ducks started with blowout losses to Gatesville and Pflugerville Connally, allowing more than 40 points a game on both. But then last week Taylor barely lost to Lago Vista 29-22 indicating these Ducks might be dangerous. Taylor will try to throw the ball, a lot. They are only averaging 60 yards per game on the ground, but 218 yards per game through the air, with that passing game led by senior quarterback Eli Laurence. His favorite target is freshmen phenom Damien Calico, who had 116 yards last week against Lago Vista ... The Leps are coming off a very impressive all-around performance last week in a 52-7 victory over Smithville ... In that game La Grange junior running back Da’von Giscome ran for 154 yards and three TDs and Clayton Cooper threw for 241 yards and a pair of touchdowns and also ran for 63 yards and two scores. This is the third consecutive road game for the Leps. La Grange hosts Navasota next week.

Last meeting: The last time these two teams played was 2020 when La Grange beat the Ducks 48-20. Amazingly in that game the Leps scored all 48 points before halftime. DJ Taylor ran for 190 yards and three TDs in that game and Caden Cooper ran for two scores and threw a TD to Dana Baker.
