La Grange Baseball Team Marches Into the 2nd Round
The La Grange baseball team had no trouble beating Houston Furr in the first round of the 4A playoffs. The Leps won 11-1, led by a six-inning, five-hit gem from pitcher Brock Loehr.
Offensively the Leps were also led by Loehr, who had three hits and three RBIs. Brayden Horton had two hits and scored three runs, and Bennett Barber had two hits, scored twice and drove in two runs.
The La Grange baseball team (15-15) now advances to face Salado in the second round. Their best-of-three series begins Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Thrall. Game 2 will be Friday back in Thrall at 4:30 with a Game 3 to follow if necessary.
Season Ends
The La Grange softball team’s season came to an end Thursday in Thrall as the Lady Leps lost the first two games of a best-of-three 4A area round series to Salado 13-1 and 17-1.
In the first game Kylin Brawley had two hits and drove in La Grange’s only run. Haylie Cooper also had two hits. In the second game, sisters Haylie Cooper and Haedyn Cooper had four of La Grange’s five hits. Alyssa Liccioni drove in the only La Grange run.
The Lady Leps end their season with a 17-14 record.
