Juneteenth Committee Announces 2024 MLK Day Celebrations

Everyone is invited to join the third annual MLK walk for freedom and unity on Saturday, January 13, 2024, signifying our understanding and respect for everyone as we celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our community can use all the love we can muster at this trying time,” Walter Culberson, President of the Juneteenth Committee, said. “Without acceptance and understanding of all our residents, we become divided. As Dr. King said, ‘Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.’ Join us as we show our support for driving out hate and unifying our community.”

The .8-mile walk starts at the Fayette County Courthouse (151 N Washington St, La Grange, TX). Participants will begin to gather at 10 a.m. and the walk will begin at 11 a.m. A short program will be held at the Library Gazebo (855 S Jefferson St.) Refreshments will be served. Transportation back to the courthouse will be provided.
