Classmates cheer on the final three girl contestants in the Jump-a-Thon contest Friday morning. Second graders competed to see who could jump rope the longest without making a mistake.
The local non-profit Fayette County Helpers (FCH) held its annual Jump A-Thon jump rope contest at La Grange Elementary School on Friday morning, March 7.
FCH volunteer Jeff Kelly, Sr., started the contest more than 10 years ago as a way of encouraging local second graders to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle.
Students competed to see who could jump rope the longest without making a mistake. The top three winners in the boys and girls division recieved medals. In addition, all of the students received a free jump rope to take home just in time for spring break.
