Intra-County Rivalry Night in the Gym

Flatonia vs. Schulenburg and Fayetteville vs. RT-C Result in Split Decisions

The gyms in Schulenburg and Fayetteville played host to intense district basketball doubleheaders Friday as intra-county rivals faced off against one another.

Over in Fayetteville the Round Top-Carmine girls improved to 5-1 in district with a 47-37 victory over the Lady Lions.

But in the nightcap, the Fayetteville boys turned the tables, beating the RT-C Cubs 109-33 as the Lions improved to 4-1 in district.

After starting the season with 13 consecutive losses, the Round Top-Carmine boys basketball team got their first victory of the season last Tuesday with a 78-76 win over McDade as Tanner Schobel led the way with 27 points.

In Schulenburg Friday the Shorthorns used a big fourth quarter and a 19-point performance Aaron Janecek to beat Flatonia 61-47. The victory improves the Shorthorns to 4-1 in district, while Flatonia falls to 2-2 in district play.

In the girls game, the Flatonia Lady Dogs won 62-30.
