Guevara Lifts Amazing Amount Of Weight to Get to State Meet
La Grange junior Erick Guevara is headed to the state powerlifting meet after placing second in the 242-pound weight class at the regional meet in Navasota last week.
He lifted 625 pounds squat, 405 pounds in bench and 485 pounds in deadlift.
“Erick works hard. He does a great job, has a lot of potential,” said first-year La Grange powerlifting coach Charles Otto. “ I told him from the beginning if he worked hard he could really succeed in it. He has the frame for it. He has the build for it. He’s strong, very coachable. He takes to motivation really well. You give him a little fire under him he gets mad, but he’s a very quiet kid. Does exactly what you ask of him.”
We’re proud to honor Erick Guevara as this week’s Fayette County Athlete of the Week.
