Flatonia Wins District Baseball Championship

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team won the 2024 District 29-2A title by defeating the Shiner Comanches 5-0 last week. This was the first district baseball title won by Flatonia since 2009.
Friday, the Dogs traveled to Shiner and came away with a shutout victory. Titan Targac and Cale Janecka teamed up to pitch vs. the Comanches.
Targac earned the win by pitching five innings and gave up four hits, five walks, and had eight K’s. Janecka earned the save by throwing two innings and gave up two hits and had four K’s.
Flatonia scored all five of their runs throughout the game on two-out RBI hits.
In the first inning the Dogs plated two runs on a RBI double by Henri Vincik, and a RBI single from Rambo Ramirez.
The fifth inning saw Flatonia scoring two more runs. Targac scorched a RBI triple, and Vincik added his second RBI single.
Beck Zimmerman would add an insurance run onto the board with a RBI double in the sixth inning. Railey Nieto also collected a single.
Flatonia defeated Louise 15-0 last Monday. This was their last district home game, as well as it being Senior Night. Seniors Cale Janecka, Railey Nieto, Rambo Ramirez, and Raymond Toro were all recognized before the ball game.
Blake Kessler & Beck Zimmerman combined to pitch a four inning no-hitter vs the Hornets. Kessler pitched the first three innings. He gave up 1 walk & had 3 K’s. Zimmerman threw one inning, and had 4 K’s.
The Bulldogs will open up the 2024 UIL state playoffs as the #1 seed out of District 29-2A this week vs the Stockdale Brahmas.This Bi-District round will be a best-of-three series in Hallettsville. Game 1 will be Thursday, May 2 at 7 p.m. Game 2 will be on Friday, May 3 at 7 p.m. If needed Game 3 would be Saturday, May 4 at 1 p.m.
The Schuleburg baseball team begins the playoffs this week with a best-of-three series against Brackettville at Southwest Legacy High School. They play a doubleheader Friday at 4:30 p.m. with a third game if necessary Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Round Top-Carmine Cubs begin the playoffs with a one-gamer April 29 in Navasota against Richards at 7 p.m.
