Flatonia is Last Fayette Co. Girls Hoops Team Alive

Four Fayette County girls basketball teams advanced to the second round of the playoffs, but only one team is going to the third round.

The Flatonia Lady Bulldogs were the only local team to survive the area round as they dominated Mumford 5132 Friday.

The Flatonia girls have now won 12 games in a row are and 28-4 overall.

They now advance to the regional semifinals where they will face Johnson City at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Geronimo Navarro High School.

La Grange

The La Grange girls basketball team saw its season come to an end Friday in Thrall with a 69-39 loss to Salado.

Campbell Cooper scored a team-high 26 points for the Lady Leps and Kylie Trlicek had 10.

The La Grange girls end their season with a 24-12 record while Salado improved to 21-14 and heads to the third round.

The Lady Leps had two seniors on this year’s team, Landri Hernandez and Kaylee Holmes.

Schulenburg falls to Danbury

The Schulenburg girls lost to Danbury 49-43 in a second round game Friday in El Campo, despite a team-high 14 points from Jenna Guentert and nine from Jashiya Jackson. In the first season under coach Larry Tidwell, the Lady Horns improved from having a 6-29 record the year before to going 18-13 and making it to the second round of the playoffs. The Lady Horns only had one senior, Emmrie Marx.

RTC Loses to

Nueces Canyon

The Round Top-Carmine girls basketball season came to and end Thursday in the second round of the 1A playoffs with a 48-43 loss to Nueces Canyon.

The Cubettes had three freshmen starters, but are graduating two superstars in Tess and Jill Eilers.
