Flatonia Beats Schulenburg in District Girls Basketball Opener

The Flatonia girls kept their hot start to the season going with a 57-21 victory at Schulenburg in the district opener for both teams.
The win improved the Lady Bulldogs to 9-1 this season.
Junior Summer Sodek had a monster game, just missing a triple-double with 25 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
“She makes her shots and is so good at seeing the court and sharing the ball,” Flatonia head coach Bethany McLeod said.
Senior post Allie Uzell added 16 points.
Schulenburg was led by freshman Jenna Guentert and sophomore Arianna Vincent, who each scored seven.
Legendary Schulenburg head coach Larry Tidwell, in his first year back leading the Lady Horns, has had a strong start to the season, going 9-4 heading into Tuesday’s game See but Flatonia was too much.
Schulenbug has just one senior, Emmrie Marx, but the young Lady Horns at times were able to slow down the Lady Bulldogs early.
But a 21-point third quarter really broke the game open for Flatonia.
“I was excited about how we are able to move through their zone and still get shots,” McLeod said. “We drew up a new offense at halftime so being able to take that and run with it was great.”
