Fayetteville basketball players Keagan Supak and Jake Kubala are seniors who have without question made their mark on this year’s team. So much so that the Lions earned a state ranking and have multiple wins while scoring 100+ points.

“They’ve done a great job from a leadership standpoint,” said Fayetteville head basketball coach Jake Diggs. “Really helped turn around the culture here. They’ve bought in, they’ve worked hard everyday, get here early in the mornings, have great attitudes, and we wouldn’t be where we were without them.” These two seniors’ consistent work ethic and production has made them our choice for this edition’s Athlete of the Week.

Answer: “Goals for the rest of the season are obviously to make a deep run in the playoffs. Hopefully get the team to a state championship game, at least. That’s our goal. Nothing any bigger than that, but to go play a state basketball game.”

Question: Who do you have winning the Super Bowl?

Answer: “I wish I could say the Texans, but I think the Ravens may have it.”

Question: Where do you see yourself after high school?

Answer: “I plan to attend Blinn College and transfer over to (Texas) A&M to get an agricultural business degree.”

Question: What’s your favorite sport of all time and why?

Answer: “I guess I’d go

with basketball just because it’s an action sport.”

Question: Who’s a player you admire on the Houston Texans?

Answer: “CJ Stroud. He’s pretty good.”

Question: What do you spend the most time doing in Fayetteville outside of school and sports?

Answer: “Just hanging with friends all the time.” Fayetteville has a great all around team, but the senior leadership has been very important to this state tournament- caliber team.
