Fayetteville Wins District Championship; Schulenburg and Flatonia Tie for Title

The Fayetteville boys basketball team clinched the 29-1A district title with a 86-10 victory over Buckholts Tuesday.

The Lions are 27-5 overall and 13-1 in district, one game ahead of runner-up Richards. Fayetteville begins the playoffs next week.

The Flatonia and Schulenburg boys basketball teams each grabbed big wins on the final night of the regular season to throw the District 282A race into a three-way tie for the title.

Schulenburg beat Weimar 61-41 Tuesday and Flatonia knocked off Bloomington 52-43 so the Shorthorns, Bulldogs and Bloomington all end the regular season with 9-3 records.

All will head to the postseason next week, with Schulenburg winning a coin flip to get the No. 1 seed.
