The Fayetteville boys are relentless on the basketball court.

They play at a break-neck speed offensively and defensively that gives opponents fits – and the results speak for themselves.

The state-ranked Lions have surged to a 25-5 record, and with Tuesday’s 111-33 victory at Round Top-Carmine, Fayetteville has a 11-1 mark in district and is just two wins away from a second consecutive district title.

“It’s who we are... It’s something we try to preach all year and we work on it every day in practice,” said Fayetteville head coach Jake Diggs, of their style of play.

“We play like we practice,” said Fayetteville senior Cash Smith.

“We make other teams play our game,” said senior Keagan Supak. “We don’t want to let them set up their offense or defense.”

Tuesday the Lions never let RT-C get comfortable on their way to those 111 points, a season high.

Jack Schley led the way for the Lions with 20 points Tuesday. Lawson Fritsch and Kole Schmitt each had 14.

A whopping seven Lions reached double figures also including Mason Fenhaus (12 points), Cash Smith (11 points), Easton Jaeger (10 points) and Chance Konvicka (10 points).

“It’s a tribute to how hard these guys work,” Diggs said.

RT-C was led by senior Tanner Schobel, who scored 11.

Tuesday was the fourth time this season the Lions have hit triple digits.

“If it happens (hitting 100), that’s cool, but we just want to win,” Supak said.

Now two wins remain between them and another district title.

“A district title would be great, but we know from last year the job’s not done after district. It’s not our ultimate goal,” Diggs said.

Last year the Lions marched through the playoffs, one win shy of making it to the state tournament.

“It’s been a great year, but we still have work left to do,” Diggs said.
