Fayetteville Boys Basketball Team Advances to State Quarterfinals
The Fayetteville Lions boys basketball team overcame an early deficit to rally for a 74-66 victory over Wells in the regional semifinals Tuesday night in Madisonville. Jack Schley led the Lions with 21 points. Easton Jaeger scored 12, Mason Fenhaus had 11, Lawson Fritsch and Brody Dooley each had eight, Kole Schmitt had seven and Chance Konvicka scored six.
“It was two really good teams playing,” said Lions head coach Jake Diggs. “They came out and took it to us and got a lead. I’m proud of our guys for staying resilient and sticking to the game plan and running the floor and trying to wear them down a bit.”
Tuesday’s victory vaults the Lions (27-8) into the state quarterfinals where they will play Brookeland for the second consecutive season. This matchup is Friday at 7 p.m. in Humble. Last year Fayetteville beat Brookeland 74-64.
