Elgin DC Hired as New Athletic Director, Football Coach at SHS

Schulenburg ISD named Clay Ferguson as the new athletic director and head football coach during a special school board meeting Friday night, Ferguson served as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach at Elgin before taking the Schulenburg job.

“Schulenburg obviously has a deep, rich tradition in football, really in all sports,” Ferguson said in an interview with the Record. “I have two girls, one’s a sixth grader and one’s a third grader. As successful as the volleyball program is and the girls basketball program is, I wanted a spot where I could be successful in football and my girls could be successful. That’s something important to me. This is a long-term commitment for me and my family. I don’t want to move around anymore. We’re committed to Schulenburg for the long haul.”
