Cubettes Roll Past Runge for Bidistrict Title

With a dominating defense that left Runge struggling at times to even get down the court to try shots, the Round Top-Carmine girls basketball scored a dominating 64-25 first round playoff victory Monday.

Seniors twins Tess and Jill Eilers scored 29 and 19 points respectively.

Guard Bree Dooley led a lot of fast breaks for the Cubettes.

“We were really able to push the ball tonight,” Dooley said.

Freshman Madison Markwardt added 12 points.

The Cubettes are now 14-2 overall and advance to play Nueces Canyon Thursday at 4 p.m. in Seguin in the next round of the playoffs.

“I thought we did a lot of good things,” said RTC head coach Caitie Weishuhn. “I also thought we played kind of sloppy from time to time. We’re going to have to rebound a lot better.”
