La Grange High School junior Macie Collier is headed back to the state track meet in the 300 hurdles, just like she did as a freshman.

And Collier is a real threat to get on the medal stand this year.

At last week’s Region III3A meet in Bullard, Collier placed 3rd in the girls 300 meter hurdles with time of 43.39.

It was her fastest time ever in the event by more than a second. Her previous personal record was 44.61.

Only the top two finishers at regionals earn an automatic berth at state. But because Collier’s time was the best among all four regional bronze medalists, she earned a state wild card berth.

Her time of 43.39 actually was the fourth fastest of the nine state qualifiers in the event. Collier will compete Thursday May 14 at The University of Texas.
