Chovanec Collects $400 Jackpot

Michael Chovanec, a lifelong resident of La Grange, is shown right, above collecting his $400 check from Walt Jackson, left, of Farmers Lumber Company. Chovanec was the winner of last week’s football Pick-It contest sponsored by Farmers. He was the only one to correctly pick the winners of our 10 selected games. Chovanec credited “persistence and luck” for his victory and noted that his win was made possible by picking against all the Texas-based college and pro teams on last week’s ballot. The contest is $100 per week but there had not been any winners the first four weeks of the season so the jackpot increases every week there is no winner.
