    Bulldogs Surge Into Baseball’s 2nd Round

The Flatonia Bulldog baseball team claimed a Bi-District title over the Stockdale Brahmas last weekend by virtue of a 10-0 and 11-1 series sweep.

This best of three series was played in Hallettsville on May 2 and 3.

Last Thursday, Flatonia won game one 10-0.

Titan Targac pitched a gem of a game. He no-hit the Brahmas while giving up just four walks and he had sixteen K’s.

Henri Vincik led the Dogs offense by collecting three hits, three RBI’s, and scored two runs.

Rambo Ramirez had a two RBI double. While Beck Zimmerman hit a RBI single.

In game two on Friday, Flatonia won 11-1 in six innings.

Blake Kessler earned the win on the mound. He gave up two hits, three walks, and had two K’s.

Rambo Ramirez had a great night at the plate. He went 3-4 with five RBI’s to lead the Bulldogs.

Nathan Aguillon and Vincik each had RBI ground outs. A sacrifice fly by Cale Janecka played another RBI.

These two victories over Stockdale meant Flatonia would now advance to the Area round of the playoffs this coming week.

The Dogs will play the Port Aransas Marlins this week at Riverside Stadium in Victoria. This will be a best of three series.

Game one will be played on Thursday, May 9 at 7:30 pm. Game two will be Friday, May 10 at 7 p.m. If necessary game three will be on Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m.

Earlier last week on Monday Flatonia traveled to Caldwell for a playoff warmup The Dogs lost 1-2 to the Hornets.

Zimmerman, Kessler, and Janecka combined to pitch this game vs. Caldwell. They gave up two walks and had five K’s.

Vincik had the only RBI for Flatonia on a single. Raymond Toro, Railey Nieto, and Targac each had singles against the Hornets.

Baseball Rolls On

The Schulenburg baseball team was making it’s first playoff appearance since 2017, but the Shorthorns looked right at home under playoff pressure.

After losing the opener of their best-of-three series to Bracket, the Shorthorns roared back to take Game 2 10-1 and then Saturday’s decisive Game 3, 6-1.

In Friday’s win the Shorthorns cranked out 13 hits, led by a four-hit night from Brycen Schramek. Jayse Janda drove in three runs. Connor Lichnovsky pitched four innings of one-run ball and Zane Brenek pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

On Saturday, pitchers Connor Fogle and Aaron Janecek combined to limit Bracket to just one run. The Shorthorns capitalized on nine walks and Brycen Schramek had two hits and Cooper Demel hit a double.

The Schulenburg baseball team now advances to play Kenedy in a best-of-three series at Marion High School.

Game 1 is Thursday at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Saturday at 2 p.m. with a third game to follow Saturday if needed.
