Another Houston Steps Into the Spotlight in Schulenburg
The Houston family has a long history of great athletes in Schulenburg, and junior Daterrion Houston is adding to that legacy.
He was an all-district running back in football this season and is a powerful force on the Shorthorns basketball team as well.
Tuesday Houston helped lead Schulenburg to their first district hoops win.
“Daterrion, DT, has really come a long way,” said Schulenburg head coach Richard Hoogendoorn. “He and I decided he’s a great athlete but not a great basketball player yet, but that’s something he’s working on every day and working hard at it.
“He’s so athletic that he gets out in front of himself sometimes. He goes so fast that I think he just needs to learn to slow it down a bit, but that’s something he’s getting better at.”
We’re proud to honor Houston as this week’s Fayette County Athlete of the Week.
