Women’s Equality Day Proclaimed in County & City

Members of the local chapter of the League of Women Voters celebrated Women’s Equality Day Aug. 26, the day designated by Congress to commemorate the passage of the 19th amendment, which granted women the right to vote. Fayette County Judge Joe Weber and La Grange mayor Jan Dockery both signed proclamations designating Aug, 26 as Women’s Equality Day in the county and city, respectively.
