    Women of the ELCA Hosting Turkey Dinner in Carmine

A turkey and dressing meal, sponsored by the Martin Luther Lutheran Women of the ELCA, will be held on Nov. 12. Pick-up will be from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the MLLC Mission & Ministry Building.

Advance tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the MLLC church office, Carmine State Bank, or from Leonita Sanders. Call the church office at (979) 278-3388 or Sanders at (979) 820-1360 for more information.

RT-C School News

Students at Round Top-Carmine ISD will be released at 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 3.

The Round Top-Carmine junior high A and B teams, junior varsity, and varsity volleyball teams defeated Prairie Lea on Oct. 17. Varsity defeated Waelder on Oct. 20.

On Oct. 27, a warm-up game is tentatively scheduled to be played, with the opponent to be announced.

The RT-C volleyball team honored the Little Cubette Club after the varsity game on Oct. 20. Each member received a framed photo with their “big sister.”

High school girls and junior high girls and boys participated in the district crosscountry meet in Fayetteville recently.

The varsity girls were the district champions. Results were Maggie Salinas, first; Avery Nelius, fourth; Mallory Krause, fifth; Kennedy Flinn, ninth; Makayla Smith, tenth; Jill Eilers, eleventh; Tess Eilers, twelfth, and Gretchen Sacks, twenty-fifth.

The junior high girls’ team was also the district champion. Results were Liliana Salinas, second; Madison Markwardt, third; Kandyce Hughes, fourth; Cassi Williams, fifth; Reagan Williams, sixth; Halle Phoenix, seventh; Hayden Kasmiersky, eighth; Morgan Nelius, eleventh; Caydan Nelius, thirteenth; Bree Dooley, eighteenth; and Rebekah Sacks, nineteenth.

The junior high boys’team placed second. Results were Caden Tovey, fourth; Facundo Cerda, twelfth; Connor Fricke, twenty-third; Nicholas Mc-Kenzie, twenty-sixth; Kevin Platas, twenty-seventh; and Paul McCullough, thirtieth.

The girls’ cross-country team placed ninth at the regional meet on Oct. 23.

Mayer Cemetery Association Mayer Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 2 p.m., at Lenora Voelkel’s home on 4757 Wagner Road near Shelby. Reports will be given on cemetery needs such as funds for mowing, upkeep, and other items. There also will be an officers’ election. All are welcome to attend.

The Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

MLLC News

Confirmation class meets Wednesday from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m.

Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.

Sunday School meets at 9 a.m.

Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing All Saints Day, begins at 10 a.m.

Bingo for Seniors

Bingo for Seniors (age 60 and older, plus guests) is held on the second Sunday of the month from 2-4 p.m. at the Ledbetter Community Center. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. The next date is Nov. 12.

Visitors’ Center

The Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second Friday and Saturday of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Meals on Wheels

Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Com-munity Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave. in Carmine.

Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.

Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and must be picked up by 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon to 4 p.m.

Accepted are clean No. 1 and No. 2 plastic (please separate them and take note that No.5 plastics are not accepted), dry newspapers, telephone books, magazines, cardboard, paper, junk mail, all colors glass, steel food cans and aluminum cans. Attendants are available to help unload.

The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
