Wilsons Celebrate 68th Anniversary
Patsy and Donald T. Wilson Sr. celebrated their 68th anniversary on June 4.
They grew up in towns 17 miles apart. One year a traveling skating rink had set up in Patsy’s hometown, Chillicothe. Don and three friends had come over from Vernon for the excitement. They were wearing big flowered pants and sleeveless shirts, that his mother made for them from sacks from the flour mill. Patsy was impressed and had a big crush on Don.
They dated their senior year and Don went on to Texas Tech and Patsy to McMurry College. They married in 1957 and continued to live for six years in an upstairs apartment over a one car garage while Patsy worked and Don finished his architectural degree, afterward moving to Houston.
As age 89 approached, they have recently moved to West Point to their son, Sam and Diana Wilson’s Tonkawa Bluff Ranch. They have two granddaughters: Elizabeth and Erica and their husbands Nick and Alex, and a cat, Miss Daisy. They just don’t skate anymore.
