Wick Named State’s Top Sportswriter at Texas Press Association Convention

The 2022 Fred Hartman Award for Excellence in Sports Writing was presented to Jeff Wick, right, of The Fayette County Record Saturday at the Texas Press Association convention in Round Rock. Outgoing TPA President Leonard Woolsey (publisher of the Galveston Co. Daily News, left) presented the award at the annual awards brunch. Partnering with Texas Press Association, Hartman Newspapers L.P. annually awards one Texas sportswriter a $1,000 prize and the title of best sportswriter in Texas based on their work during the previous calender year. Wick also won this award in 2012.
