Wendish Museum Announces New Director

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society and Museum is excited to announce their new Executive Director, Katy Kasper. Over the past year Katy has been a docent at the museum, learning more about her husband, Shea’s, Wendish roots. Katy and her husband are raising their three daughters in Warda.

Faith Lutheran’s Octoberfest 

Save the date for Faith Lutheran High Schools annual Octoberfest on Saturday, Oct. 26. The “Battle of the Vines” and “Battle of the Brew” are back. Start planning your brews now. There will be traditional German food, domino tournament, auction, cornhole tournament, music, kids games, fellowship and lots of fun.

Holy Cross Church Picnic 

The annual Holy Cross Lutheran Church picnic will be held Sunday, Sept. 1 at the picnic grounds. Make plans to attend this fun day. More details coming soon.

Camp Lone StarAnnual Picnic

 Camp Lone Star in La-Grange will have their annual picnic on Sunday, July 28. The day will start with special music at 10:30 a.m. An outdoor worship service at 11 a.m. with the installation of Rev. Ryan Neuhaus as the new CEO, a BBQ meal at noon and the benefit auction from 1-3 p.m. are just some of the activities planned for the day. The swimming pool will also be open from 1-2:30 p.m. for those wanting to enjoy the cool water. Each year Camp Lone Star serves over 11,000 individuals through retreats, outdoor education and of course their summer camp ministry. This is a great event and a wonderful opportunity to show support for the camp and help it continue the ministry into the future.

Community Baseball 

Sunday July 21 Serbin will play New Ulm at New Ulm at 3 p.m.

Game Day at Holy Cross 

The next Game Day at Holy Cross will be held Thursday, Aug. 15 from noon-2 p.m. A light lunch is served, there is no cost to attend and everyone is welcome. Games of bingo, dominoes are offered.

Sewing Circle 

The Sewing Circle in Warda meets every Thursday from 9 a.m.-noon in the old Parish Hall of Holy Cross Church (entrance is behind the church.) You do not have to be a church member to join this fun group of ladies and no experience is necessary. They cut, sew, tie quilts and enjoy some good food and fellowship. 

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

The midweek morning Bible Study at Holy Cross in Warda is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

Faith Lutheran High School

 July office hours will be Monday to Thursday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.

On Sunday, July 21 the LCMS congregations in the area will collect a door offering for Faith Lutheran High School to help them raise the remaining funds necessary to purchase a passenger van. Please consider helping with this special offering. Check can be made out to Faith Lutheran High School and marked “van” you can also bring a check by the church or school office.

The school also has set up ACH payment options, if you would like to contribute monthly, quarterly, or even yearly to support the school. Contact the school office to learn more.
