Wendish Heritage Scholarship Taking Applications

TWHS Scholarship

The Texas Wendish Heritage Society Scholarship Program is now taking scholarship applications. The Texas Wendish Heritage Society (TWHS) appreciates support given to the scholarship program. All TWHS funds are received through fundraising projects and donations. This scholarship program is available to students of Wendish descent and encourages students to learn more about their Wendish heritage. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college, university, or trade school for Fall 2023 semester. Scholarship applications for 2023-2024 are available online at www.texaswendish. org and on the Texas Wendish Facebook Page. The entire process is online and must be submitted digitally by the deadline of 5 p.m. on Saturday July 14, 2023. Vacation Bible Schools

Vacation Bible School will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran in Warda on June 12-14 from 5:30-8 p.m. The theme this year is “Among Us.” The children will participate in “whodunit” games, opportunities to explore the Bible, crafts and music that will help to reinforce the fact that Jesus is among us. Vacation Bible School will be held at St. Paul Lutheran in Serbin on June 12-16 from 8:15-11:15 a.m. for grades 3-7. Rainforest Explorers is the theme and the children will learn how Jesus is the ultimate guide in their lives. Registration is available at their website: www.stpaulserbin.org. St. Paul Lutheran Serbin The St. Paul Lutheran Church Adult Fellowship in Serbin is having a BBQ Pork Steak dinner on Sunday June 18 at 10 a.m.-noon at the Serbin Picnic Grounds. Advance tickets only for $12 per plate. Meal is to-go and tickets are available by calling (979) 5400854 by June 12. All proceeds will go toward future church/ school projects.

Host Friends Visit

The Alan Pyburns hosted 13 girls, friends of their daughter, daughter-in-law, and niece arriving from Dallas area Thursday for their annual Womacation in the country. They enjoyed the beautiful outdoors in this area hiking, floating and kayaking as well as eating at Las Fuentes, Giddings Brewhaus and BeerZ. Happy Hour at the Tutt’s house (Uncle and Aunt) and swimming at their Aunt Jackie Head. They really enjoyed their get away to this area.

Birth Announcement

Tasha and Sanjay Singh are the proud parents of Elleri Indira Singh. She arrived safely on Tuesday, May 30. Proud sister is Lexi and grandparents are Wayne and Jane Chapman.

Condolences

Sympathy to the Kunze family on the death of their cousin, Lillian Eifert Deterling, on May 26. Funeral services will be Saturday June 10 at Bethel in Dallas.

Sympathy to Delbert and Judy Zoch on the death of Delbert’s mother-in-law, Irene Noack, on June 1. Funeral services were held June 5 at Serbin.

Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Starting June 14 Pastor Beck will be leading a new midweek Bible Study on Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Cross in the Church Library. brary.

In this study you will learn how to read your Bible…. how to really read it. What do we believe about the Bible? How can we understand it? All are welcome to be a part of this conversation.

Faith Lutheran High School Summer office hours for June and July are 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The spring rains resulted in the Faith Lutheran High School golf tournament being postponed. The new date is June 17. Contact the school to participate in this event.
