Jill Eilers, Tess Eilers, and Kennedy Flinn were named to the First Team District 29A basketball team. Mallory Krause and Kim Rohde were named to the Second Team.
FFA officers and members delivered plants and seed packets to teachers for FFA Week. They also greeted elementary students who arrived by car.
During the week of Feb. 21-24, several special events took place at the high school. Officer TJ McCleney came to the high school to present a Situational Awareness Training program. Texas A & M University School of Nursing brought their Mobile Health Clinic. The end of the 4th 6 weeks was celebrated with games.
Tanner Schobel built a welding booth for the RT-C Ag Shop which was shown at the San Antonio Livestock Show on Feb. 25. It has three working stations for students to practice their welding skills in preparation for certifications and future projects.

Spring Break will be March 13-17. March 20 is a professional development day.
Daylight Savings Time Daylight Savings Time begins next Sunday. Remember to set your clocks ahead an hour before you go to bed Saturday night.
Bingo for Seniors
Bingo for Seniors (60 and older, plus guests) is held at the Ledbetter Community Center on the second Sunday of the month. Cost is $5 per card, which covers 10 plus games and prizes. Chips, snacks, and drinks are available for a freewill donation. This is a nonprofit community event for entertainment. The next date is this Sunday, March 12.
Condolences
Sympathy is extended to the family and friends of Johnny Yarborough, who passed away on Feb. 21. He was retired from Dow Chemical in Lake Jackson and was a former mayor of Carmine. He loved gardening and sharing his produce. He made long, big wooden spoons for the Carmine Volunteer Fire Department and was good at fixing things like lawn mowers, tillers, vacuums and etc.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. He is survived by his wife Judy, a daughter, and daughter-in-law. His son preceded him in death.
Herb Society
The Pioneer Unit of the Herb Society of America is sponsoring their annual herb and plant sale on March 17 and 18 at the Round Top Festival Institute, 248 Jaster Rd., Round Top, TX 78954. Hours on Friday are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. Hundreds of varieties for our region will be available.
Spring Antiques Show
The Carmine Hall Spring Antiques Show will be held March 24-29. Early Bird shopping is March 24 from 5-7 p.m. Hours for March 2528 are 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. and for March 29, hours are 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Meals on Wheels
Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels with Combined Community Action meet every Wednesday at Martin Luther Lutheran Church Mission and Ministry Building located at 250 Augsburg Ave., Carmine.
Come early to play dominoes and enjoy the camaraderie. Hours are 9-11:30 a.m.
Food usually arrives about 10 a.m. and is for pick-up only until 11:30 a.m. There are five meals in a box along with milk, dessert, and bread. Cost is a donation of $10, which makes it $2 per meal. It is for seniors age 60 and up.

Carmine Volunteer Fire Department drill night is March 9 at 7 p.m. Volunteers and interested persons are always welcome to attend.

MLLC News
Worship Committee meets Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Lenten service will be March 8 at 7 p.m. at Waldeck Lutheran Church. A meal will be served at 6 p.m. prior to the service. Pastor John David Nedbalek’s sermon is titled “Miraculous Peace.”
Pastor John David Nedbalek, Pastor David Tinker, and Deaconess Jennifer Tinker will alternate leading the services at St. Paul Lutheran Church-Shelby; Bethlehem Lutheran Church - Round Top; Martin Luther Lutheran Church-Carmine; and Waldeck Lutheran Church.
Rebekah Group meets Thursday at 2 p.m.
Saturday worship with Holy Communion is at 6 p.m.
Sunday School is Sunday at 9 a.m.
Sunday worship with Holy Communion, observing the Third Sunday of Lent, is at 10 a.m. Praise Team leads songs and the Noisy Offering will be received. Recycling Trailer
The recycling trailer is at the Carmine Hall on Thursdays from noon until 4 p.m.
The trailer is in Ledbetter from 8:30-11 a.m., also on Thursdays, behind the Ledbetter Fireman’s Hall.
Visitors’ Center
Carmine Chamber of Commerce Visitors’ Center at the restored Train Depot is open on the second and fourth Fridays and Saturdays of the month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
