Vela Wins $300 Football Jackpot

Jason Vela of Schulenburg was this season’s first winner of the Alpha One football pick it contest. Vela won $300 for correctly predicting the winners of all 10 football games in last week’s newspaper. He said both ‘Horns were good to him – he correctly predicted upset victories by the Schulenburg Shorthorns and Texas Longhorns to get the win. Vela is shown above, right, accepting his check from Alpha One Sales Manager Nick Power, left. The ballot appears in every Tuesday edition of the Record. Each week the contest is worth $100. If there is no winner the prize increases by $100 every week.
