Christmas in Muldoon Schedule Announced
It is that time of year again for Christmas in Muldoon on Saturday, Dec. 14 The afternoon starts off at 4:30 p.m. at the Muldoon Museum, when you will have the chance to enjoy cookies, wassail and a visit with none other than Mrs. Claus. While you enjoy all the Christmas cheer and delicious treats you will have the opportunity to purchase some homemade bake goods with the proceeds going to the operation of the museum. The museum will be open until 6 p.m.
Then beginning at 5 p.m., the Stray Gathering Cowboy Church will begin their children’s crafts. All the area kids are invited to come out to make some Christmas crafts. Also, on the agenda at SG2C will be a visit from the jolly old elf himself, Santa, until 6 p.m. The Stray Gathering Cowboy Church has been very active in the community and this is a great chance to come and meet some of the membership and learn what they have going for the Christmas season.
The evening will be ending at 6:30 p.m., when the Muldoon Volunteer Fire Department will hold their annual Christmas meal. The meal this year will be fried fish, hush puppies, French fries, coleslaw, tea and water. This is the chance to show off or practice your favorite dish or a dessert to share in pot luck style. The fire department is also accepting free will donations during this time.
There will be collections at all locations of canned goods for the Flatonia Area Food Pantry and donations of toys for the Fayette County’s Santa Program, both wrapped and unwrapped. ‘Tis the season to give back to the community and those who are in need. For more information contact Sheila Brunner, the MVFD President at (361) 772-0246.
Neighborhood Watch
It is the holiday season and that means everyone needs to pay even more attention to what is going on in the area. Recently gates have been found off the hinges into private property. The game warden has been alerted to the activity.
If you see anyone on someone else’s property, please contact the land owner. If it is OK, then there is no harm done. We all have to pay attention and help each other out. Muldoon is a small community and we have to pull together to keep the area safe.
Out and About
Pam Sheffield and her two daughters, Sarah and Allison, recently took a trip to Ruidoso, New Mexico. They met other family members for a girl’s weekend to celebrate the birthday of Pam’s stepmom, SuZanne. There were 12 girls total that gathered and stayed in a beautiful three-story cabin on the side of a mountain. The scenery was beautiful with lots of elk and deer all around. The girls went shopping, ate out at restaurants and played lots of games. They enjoyed the hot tub as it got cold at night. A special ring was given to SuZanne, whom they affectionately call MamaSu, for her birthday. The ring had the four names of her daughters with their birthstone beside each name. She was thrilled and so excited to receive this gift. Lots of wonderful memories were made over the weekend.
Lane Rightmer arrived for Thanksgiving week from Waco to her parents, Jennifer and Clay Rightmer’s home. She is home for the week to help her mom get ready for Thanksgiving dinner.
