Thrivent Honoring Whitney Scarborough, Woven Ministry
This year, Thrivent is celebrating 10 years of Thrivent Action Teams and the impact our clients have had during that time. Since the start of the program in 2014, clients have led more than 1.2 million Thrivent Action Teams, engaging more than 16 million volunteers and raising more than $1.9 billion to support causes they care about.
To celebrate this milestone, Thrivent is recognizing 10 clients across the United States who are making a difference through Thrivent Action Teams by donating $10,000 each to causes they care about. Among the honorees is Whitney Scarborough of La Grange, who started Woven ministry to equip women to study the Bible and cultivate meaningful relationships. Woven stemmed from Whitney’s own desire for connection when she moved to the small town of La Grange. She put an ad in the local paper for a Bible study, and 47 women showed up, far exceeding her expectations. From there, the ministry only grew. Today, Woven is a registered nonprofit that has served hundreds of women from Texas and beyond. The organization offers Bible studies, in-person gatherings, annual retreats and leadership training, all in a safe space where women can foster authentic relationships.
