Filing for a position on the City of Fayetteville ballot for City Council positions 1, 3, and 5 began on Jan. 17 and will remain open until 5 p.m. on Feb. 16. Water Leaks

The City would like to thank Water Manager Billy Wasut for locating multiple leaks in homes during the recent heavy rains. A few developments are in the works regarding drainage issues throughout Fayetteville. Approval has been received from the Union Pacific Railroad to schedule cleanup of washouts on the ditch alongside the tracks at FM 955, and City Engineer James Weishuhn has assessed drainage issues throughout town and is working with the mayor on a resolution. 

Fat Tuesday Mark your calendars for a Fat Tuesday Pancake Supper being held at St. Paul Lutheran on Tuesday, Feb. 13 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. All are invited for allyou- can-eat pancakes, sausages and beverages. Freewill donations go to the Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Department for their exemplary service to our small community.

Holiday Closures 

FISD, Fayetteville Bank and the post office will be closed on Presidents’ Day, Monday, Feb. 19.

Blood Drive 

Remember that Gulf Coast Blood Center will conduct the Community Wide Blood Drive sponsored by Fayetteville/ Ellinger Knights of Columbus Council 3168 this Saturday from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the square in front of the old fire station.

Grand Knight Richard Calloway asks locals to please come by and donate, stressing the “need to help replenish the regional blood supply during this critical shortage.”

Picking Park

A group of bluegrass enthusiasts are pickin’ again this Saturday in the square. All levels of pickers are welcome to continue the tradition of live, acoustic bluegrass jamming. Play begins between 2-3 p.m.

Food Pantry 

The Central Texas Mobile Food Pantry will be at St. John on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 from 10-11 a.m. This will no longer be a drive-thru food distribution. Clients will walk up to the entrance and are asked to bring bags or carts for pickup.

Church Services 

St. Paul Lutheran holds services on Sundays at 10:30 a.m.

Worship services at Fayetteville Brethren are held on the second, third and fourth Saturday of every month at 10 a.m. An adult Bible Study is held before the worship service from 9 to 9:45 a.m.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Fayetteville holds Mass Saturdays at 6 p.m., and Sunday’s at 10 a.m.

St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger holds Mass on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and Sunday’s at 8 a.m.
