The annual “A Night at the Theater” Gala will be held again at Windy Knoll near Round Top on Saturday, February 10. The gala benefits the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater, which is in Phase I of construction on Fayetteville’s Town Square.

The evening will begin with performer Donnie Blacketer entertaining the crowd with his mellow country voice. Later the talented trio from Houston, SASS, will take the stage and delight the audience with their special brand of high energy and harmonizing sounds... and a large helping of sassy attitude. The emcee for the evening is Houston radio personality Sam Malone, who knows how to rev up a crowd.

This year, celebrity auctioneer Andrew Bost will be serving up stunning Live Auction items, including an amazing package of hunting, golf, dinner, and over-night stay at the Big Easy, a private club near Columbus. The package includes a quail hunt and 18 holes of golf on the new Covey course for four. Other action-filled offers include a safari in South Africa; and a fishing adventure for four on Grand Isle, Louisiana.

Axe Antiques has donated the most complete dueling pistol set that Bob Axelrod, a specialist in antique weapons, has ever seen. The boxed set made in 1840 includes the two pistols, shot, powder, and all the tools necessary to keep the pistols in good order. Not to be outdone, Richard & Jeanne Filips are donating two longhorn calves. The steers are from the Bentwood Ranch, home of the “Guinness World Record” longest longhorns.

Great destinations will be auctioned off as well. Lucky bidders can choose from a vacation house in snowy Park City, Utah, or Club Regina in Los Cabos, which rises above the shoreline where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean, or a spectacular hillside house between Marfa and Ft. Davis.

Other crowd pleasers include a beautiful Richard Schmidt custom designed necklace, cuffs and earrings set, a private Black Cat Choir concert at your place or Herring Hall, a four-course wine dinner for 10 at the Wine Bar at the Grand Hotel, and a cooking lesson (that you get to eat) with chef Gino Llanes at Duo.

Construction is underway on Phase I of the Fayetteville Community Center & Performance Theater. The gala is a great way to be part of the process of seeing this civic project become a reality. There are still a few seats available at the Gala, and sponsorships are also welcome.
