There’s Now Three Contested Constable Races
The 2024 election season is shaping up to be an interesting one for Fayette County voters.
Republican and Democratic candidates had until 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, to file for a place on the ballot in the March 5 Primary Elections. The General Election takes place on Nov. 25, 2023, and there will be a contested race for County Attorney. Peggy Supak, the incumbent, filed to run as a Democrat. Schulenburg attorney Mark Elvig filed to run as a Republican. Both Supak and Elvig were unopposed in their primary races as of press time Monday morning.
There will also be three contested constable races in the Republican Primary. Incumbent Pct. 2 Constable Roger Wunderlich will face challenger Kenneth King. Incumbent Pct. 3 Constable Robert Chambers will face challenger Darrell Maze. As previously reported, incumbent Pct. 4 Constable Jason Strickland will face challenger Tammy Jo “TJ Mac” McCleney.
The following incumbents remain unopposed in next year’s Republican Primary:
• Keith Korenek for County Sheriff
• Sylvia Mendoza for Tax Assessor-Collector
• Jason McBroom for Pct. 1 Commissioner • Harvey Berckenhoff for Pct. 3 Commissioner
• Wm Billy Roensch for Pct. 1 Constable.
