Time capsules offer glimpses into a time gone by, preserving the character, spirit and resilience of a close community. Items for the weatherproof, metal time capsule created by the Fayette County Community Center & Performance Theater are currently being collected. The contents will commemorate the lives of anyone living or working in Fayetteville at the time when the Community Center was built.

Items sought after include business cards, magazine articles and photos of families, organizations and individuals with identifications listed on the back. Photos can’t be larger than 8 x 10. The capsule will be bolted into concrete inside the building and can be viewed through a window. A plaque will feature instructions to unlock it in 50 years.

“We encourage residents to contribute letters documenting present life for future generations,” stated Board Member Fred Roberts.” The deadline for receiving the material is March 20 and may be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Roberts & Associates on N. Washington St. on the square across from the Grand Fayette. For questions, email Vicki at vroberts@txins1. com.
