    Texas Pesticide Applicator CEU Course Offered Dec. 21 in Warda

There will be a TDA Applicator CEU Course offered on Thursday, Dec. 21 at the Holy Cross Picnic Hall. Brad Pierce will host this workshop from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Topics covered will include feral hog control, soil fertility, fall and winter brush and weed control, pasture management and new herbicides. Five CEU’s will be given in laws and regulations, IPM and general. Cost is $60 at the door and includes lunch. RSVP to Brad Pierce at (512) 354-0018 or bwpierce2011@gmail.com.

Holy Cross Game Day

The next monthly Game Day hosted by Holy Cross in Warda will be held on Thursday, Dec. 21 from noon-2 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Lunch will be served and games of dominoes, cards, scrabble etc. are available. Rumor has it that a visit by Rumplich will occur, this is an old Wendish/ German tradition of years ago. There will be a chance for photos with Rumplich as well, if you have been a good boy or girl all year. Everyone is invited to attend; if you have questions you can contact Lisa at (979) 218-6000. The game day is held the third Thursday of each month.

Bluff Creek Ranch

Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda has bike riding trails that are open every day from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. They also offer primitive camping spots. Their next event is the Excruciate Exam on Jan. 13, this is a total race of 72 miles. Christmas at Tejas

Tejas Camp and Retreat Center is hosting Christmas at Tejas on Dec. 15, 16, 17, 20, 21, 22. These are an overnight stay with the wonderful Christmas tradition of family activities including bounce houses, zip lines, fireworks and more. They are no longer offering evening dates/tickets. Christmas Gifts at Holy Cross If you are looking for some great Christmas gifts, Holy Cross in Warda has Ruth Meyer’s children’s Christmas book, “N is for Nativity” available. They also have the Ladies Church cookbook for $15 and RADA made in the USA cutlery, which the Ladies group sells year-round. There is a table set up in the narthex with assorted Christmas, Birthday, and all occasion cards for sale, many of which contain appropriate Bible passages. F5 Food Drive

Holy Cross has a drop off table set up in the new narthex for the F5 Food Drive. This is a nonprofit organization that has worked with GISD for the past eight years and provides backpacks of food for children at risk of hunger. Some of the needed items include: canned chicken, canned chili, Spam, Vienna sausages, Ramen noodles, crackers with cheese or peanut butter, individual chips, oatmeal, cereal and granola bars.

Wreaths Across America

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin will have a “Wreaths Across America” wreath laying ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 9 a.m. at the church cemetery.

Wednesday Night Bible Study

A new Wednesday night Bible Study will begin at Holy Cross Lutheran on Jan. 10. This will cover the book of 2nd Samuel, which discusses the reign of David. They will meet for five weeks, taking a short break during the Lenton and Easter season and then finish up after Easter. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no cost to join. Morning Bible Study

A new midweek morning Bible Study will begin at Holy Cross in Warda on Wednesday, Jan. 13. This Bible study will be reading “Has American Christianity Failed?” by Rev. Bryan Wolfmueller. This study is about the beautiful real comfort, joy, peace, freedom, and sure hope of Christ. Everyone is invited. Holy Cross Services

Services at Holy Cross Lutheran are Sunday at 9 a.m. Bible Class and Sunday school follows the morning service.

Advent Services will be held on Wednesday Dec. 20 at 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Sunday, Dec. 24 at 6 p.m.Children’s Christmas Program.

Monday, Dec. 25 at 9 a.m.Christmas Day worship.

Sunday, Dec. 31 at 6:30 p.m.-New Years Eve Worship.

The church office will be closed Dec. 25-26, Jan. 1-2.
